The Health Ministry has warned that Jamaica faces the possibility of a third wave, if citizens do not adhere to the protocols, and do more to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.
Speaking at Thursday’s COVID Conversations press conference, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie noted that the restrictions already in place have been effective.
Dr. Mckenzie however noted that a worrying trend has been observed in that each time the measures were relaxed, the COVID numbers went up, due to complacency.
She said the risk of a third wave could be caused by the presence of the UK variant.
The CMO added that a third wave would mean more deaths and severe bed shortage.
