by July 9th, 2021

The Violence Prevention Commission has been tasked with advising the government on a policy position, in relation to domestic and intimate partner violence. Prime Minister Andrew Holness said greater effort must be made to ensure that communities and families have peace.

He was speaking Thursday evening during the Jamaica Labour Party’s 78th anniversary and 2021 scholarship launch ceremony.

Mr Holness noted that political parties, such as the JLP, must have a clear stance on the issue of domestic violence.

He said the political parties must also send a clear message on the issue, to citizens.

The Prime Minister added that more needs to be done, to support domestic violence victims.
