Finally – Tokyo 2020 Officially Opens!

The rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics was officially opened Friday morning (July 23) at a glitzy ceremony at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

The event which was barred from spectator access, was attended by around one thousand dignitaries and delegates, including IOC President Thomas Bach and Japan’s Emperor Naruhito.

Lets hear now the moment during the athletes parade when the Jamaican delegation made its entry into the stadium – led by flagbearers Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the World’s fastest woman alive, and boxer Ricardo Brown.

Jamaican participation at the Olympics begins on Sunday when double World record holder Alia Atkinson contests heat 3 of the women’s 100 metres breaststroke.

As well as athletics and swimming, Jamaica will also be taking part in boxing, diving, gymnastics and judo.

The Tokyo Olympic games are scheduled end on August 8.
