For the second time this month, Jamaica has recorded more than 300 covid 19 cases in a single day.

This as 326 people tested positive for the virus yesterday (August 5).

The country’s covid case count is now at 54,165.

Some 177 of those who tested positive were females, while 149 were males.

Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest number of cases with 67, followed by Manchester with 55, St. Catherine with 51, and St. James with 35.

The country also saw one of the highest positivity rates recorded to date, at 29.8%.

Meantime, there were 3 new deaths recorded, while two other deaths are under investigation.

A total of 219 people are in hospital, with 52 of them moderately ill.
