PM Andrew Holness assures that gov’t is working on protocols for resumption of cruise tourism

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has sought to assure that the government is working on protocols for the resumption of cruise tourism that will balance both lives and livelihood amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

He was speaking yesterday (August 11) at the Commissioning and Christening ceremony for the Port Authority of Jamaica’s, new utility vessel, The Jamaica 3.

Mr. Holness acknowledged that many entities such as the PAJ and individuals who depend on cruise operations, have been without a source of income since last year.

He however stressed that the government has to balance the economic impact, with public health concerns.

Mr. Holness said there is hope on the horizon for stakeholders in the cruise industry.
