Four killed in crash on Pen Hill main road Manchester

Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones, has described an accident in Manchester which claimed the lives of 4 persons early this morning (August 18) as a disaster.

The identities of the deceased have not been released, but reports are that, they were travelling in a market truck along the Pen Hill Main Road, when it overturned and crashed in a bus stop, at about 2:15 am.

It is believed that at least five people were on board the truck loaded with produce.

Irie Fm News understands that an occupant of the truck jumped from the moving vehicle and sought assistance.

The other 4 persons were pronounced dead at hospital.

Images circulating on social media, show the front of the truck badly damaged and farm produce scattered on the roadway.

Dr. Jones says the accident is very tragic.

Data released today, indicate, that since January 1, 307 persons have died in crashes.

Warning that the total figure for 2021 could increase to 483, he says everyone must take personal responsibility of their safety.
