More than 200,000 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines arrive in the island

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has thanked the United States for its donation of 208,260 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines.

The shipment which arrived in the island this morning (August 19), is the first batch of Pfizer vaccines to be received by the country.

In thanking the US for the vaccines, Mr. Holness says children 12 and over will be prioritized for the jab.

And Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Kingston, Scott Feeken says the vaccines are being shared in a bid to save lives and more vaccines will be donated to Jamaica in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Fayval Williams is confident that the donation will help to make face-to-face classes a reality.
