Lockdown order updated to allow churches to be held

by August 22nd, 2021

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced several amendments to the Disaster Risk Management Act to accommodate places of worship today.

Places of worship were allowed to host 20 persons for services, including clergy, worshippers, musicians, and technical people.

Those who attended services were required to travel with a valid national id and a signed form by their pastor.

In the meantime, the Government noted that money transfer and remittance services, and farm stores, will be allowed to operate tomorrow and Tuesday, as well as next Monday to Tuesday, August 30 to 31, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

In accordance with the declaration, the police note that money transfer and remittance agents, and persons employed at farm stores have been added to the list of 52 categories of persons allowed to traverse, to and from work during the three-day, no-movement period.

The police are reminding all persons who fall within the exempt categories to ensure they have proper identification, and where necessary, authorization letters, to establish the legitimacy of their claim when stopped.
