President of the Medical Association of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Manning has welcomed the Health Ministry’s move to get retired doctors and nurses to assist in public health facilities.

This, as healthcare workers continue to face dire conditions across the nation’s hospitals, due in part to rising Covid hospitalisations.

In a post on its twitter page, yesterday (August 24) the ministry said the health system needs the support of retired doctors and nurses, as the country works its way through the pandemic.

Reacting to the call in an interview with Irie FM News, MAJ President Dr. Andrew Manning said it’s hoped that there will be a positive response.
