by September 1st, 2021

Opposition Leader Mark Golding has called for the establishment of a private public sector committee, tasked with managing the procurement and distribution of oxygen.

This was one of a raft of suggestions on managing the Covid crisis made by Mr. Golding, during an address to the nation, last evening (August 31).

It comes in the wake of reports that hospitals had run low on oxygen to give Covid patients in recent days and the subsequent arrival of a shipment of bulk oxygen, that is expected to last at least a week.

Mr. Golding chastised the government for what he described as poor planning for adequate supply of oxygen.

In addition to the private public sector committee, Mr. Golding wants oxygen generators, to be brought in to the country.

And, Mr. Golding has called for a dedicated health care facility to be set up in each parish, to cater to health sector staff affected by Covid-19.

This was one of several suggestions on managing the Covid crisis, made by Mr. Golding during an address to the nation last evening.

In recent days health sector workers have been upset at comments from some government officials, that those affected by Covid will not get preferential treatment.

Mr. Golding pointed out that the nation is depending on health sector workers to care for citizens who fall ill with Covid.

Mr. Golding also suggested that more community facilities be used to allow vaccination of persons who cannot travel to blitz sites.

He is also urging that the government now insist, that all visitors be vaccinated.
