Health Ministry reports 31 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 351 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 31 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 23 and 30.

The deceased are 19 females and 12 males.

They range in age from 23 to 97 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew and St. Ann both recorded 7 deaths, Westmoreland and St. Catherine 5 had each, St. Thomas 4, St. Elizabeth 2 and St. Mary 1.

The country’s Covid death toll is now 1,549.

The ministry says 6 additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, 351 new cases were recorded yesterday (August 31) pushing the country’s case count to 68,482.

Of the new cases, 183 are females and 168 are males.

They range in age from 54 days to 97 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 96 followed by St. Catherine with 52.

The positivity rate is 40.6%.

712 persons are in hospital, among them 94 severely ill, 40 critically ill and 196 moderately ill.

Meantime, 93 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 48,402.

There are 18,103 active cases.
