868 new Covid-19 cases push Jamaica’s case count pass 70,000 mark

Jamaica’s Covid-19 case count has surpassed the 70,000 mark.

This as 868 new cases yesterday (September 3), have pushed the tally to 70,657.

Of the new cases, 546 are females and 322 are males.

They range in age from 22 days to 98 years.

The positivity rate is 41.2 per cent.

St. Catherine recorded the highest number of cases with 255, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 153.

The Health Ministry is also reporting 8 additional Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the tally to 1,593.

The new deaths occurred on September 1 and September 2.

The deceased are 3 females and 5 males.

Their ages range from 39 to 88 years.

They lived in Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, St. James and St. Elizabeth.

8 more deaths are now under investigation.

724 persons are in hospital, among them, 117 are severely ill, 50 critically ill and 200 moderately ill.

Meantime, 111 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 48,691.

There are 19, 927 active cases.
