President of the Jamaica Teachers Association, J-T-A, Winston Smith says internet of connectivity is still a major issue.
He says with the start of the new academic year, several teachers and students had challenges engaging in online classes, due to poor internet connection.
He says while it is good that efforts are being made to improve connectivity in the urban areas, greater focus must be placed on rural areas.
Meantime, Education Minister Fayval Williams is assuring that the ministry is committed to improving internet connectivity, for students and teachers.
She told Irie Fm News that as the school year progresses, internet connectivity should improve.
Mrs. Williams noted that she is happy that the new academic year was able to commence.
