Jamaica records 21 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 510 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 21 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 30 and September 13, 2021.

The deceased are 12 males and 9 females.

They range in age from 25 to 101 years.

Manchester recorded 7 deaths, St. Ann recorded 4, Kingston and St. Andrew had 3, Westmoreland and St. Catherine recorded 2 deaths each, St. Elizabeth, Portland and St. Mary recorded 1 death each.

The country’s Covid death toll is now 1,757.

The Health Ministry says 4 additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, there were 510 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 77,497.

Of the new cases, 293 are females, 216 are males and 1 is under investigation.

They range in age from 2 days to 103 years.

The positivity rate is 43.4 per cent.

St. James recorded the highest number of cases with 135, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 88.

All other parishes recorded new cases except St. Elizabeth and Portland.

Meantime, hospitalisations have decreased to 760.

Among them 124 are severely ill, 53 critically ill and 192 moderately ill.

Meantime, 140 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 50,217.

25,004 cases are active.
