Gov’t makes adjustments to measures relating to funerals and burials

by September 16th, 2021

The government has made adjustments to the Covid containment measures relating to funerals and burials, effective Saturday September 18.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday (September 15), Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced that funeral services will be allowed to have 20 attendees.

Mr. Holness pointed out that while the new measures take effect on Saturday September 18, citizens are being reminded that no burial is allowed on weekends, holidays, or no movement days.

Burials are to be conducted Mondays to Fridays, between 9 a-m and 4 p-m, with 15 persons present.

Mr. Holness said stakeholders in the funeral service industry highlighted a challenge with burials, hindered by adverse weather conditions and as such, a concession was made.
