Jamaica records 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 492 new cases

Jamaica has recorded 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the Covid death toll to 1,768.

The Health Ministry says the deaths occurred between September 6 and 13.

The deceased are 7 males and 4 females.

They range in age from 50 to 80 years.

St. Elizabeth recorded 4 deaths, St. Ann and St. Catherine recorded 2 each and Portland, St. Thomas and Kingston and St. Andrew recorded 1 each.

7 additional deaths are now under investigation.

Meantime, 492 new Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday (September 15), pushing the country’s case count 77,989.

Of the new cases, 280 are females, 206 are males and 6 are under investigation.

Their ages range from 27 days to 97 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 131 followed by St. Catherine with 99.

The positivity rate is 33.7%.

Meantime, 726 persons are in hospital, among them 94 are severely ill, 52 critically ill and 176 moderately ill.

144 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 50,361.

There are 25,334 active cases.
