St Andrew custos appointed political ombudsman

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen has announced that Donna Parchment-Brown, Custos Rotulorum for the Parish of St. Andrew is Jamaica’s new Political Ombudsman effective Monday, November 16.

She will be sworn-in at a ceremony at King’s House.

Mrs. Parchment-Brown is a dispute-resolution specialist who was called to the Bar more than 33 years ago and has served in both the private as well as the public sectors.

She earned national recognition for her work in dispute resolution and is the holder of the Order of Distinction, Commander Class.

The Political Ombudsman who is appointed by the Governor-General after consultation with the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition has statutory responsibility to oversee and investigate adherence to Jamaica’s Code of Political Conduct.

Mrs. Parchment- Brown will relinquish her position as Custos to accommodate her new appointment.

She succeeds Bishop Herro Blair who resigned in 2013.
