Jamaica records 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 348 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 23 and September 25.

The deceased are 4 males and 3 females.

They range in age from 51 to 92 years.

Six of the deceased were from St. Elizabeth and one was from Trelawny.

The Covid death toll is now 1,884.

Meantime, 348 new cases were recorded yesterday (October 1), pushing the country’s case count to 84,417.

Of the new cases, 196 are females while 152 are males.

They range in age from 2 months to 93 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of new cases, with 104, followed by St. Catherine with 61.

The positivity rate is 26.1 percent.

560 persons are in hospital, among them 81 who are severely ill, 41 who are critically ill, and 114 who are moderately ill.

Meantime, 152 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 53,100.

There are 28,846 active cases.
