Social media sites Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are slowly coming back online.

The platforms owned by Facebook have been hit by an outage lasting more than seven hours.

Some Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp features have returned.

Business people and other users around the world who depend on the social media platforms have had a tough time, not being able to communicate.

And scores of students who use WhatsApp as an online learning modality, had their classes disrupted, today (October 4).

This as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook have been hit by an outage lasting several hours.

President of the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools, Linvern Wright, told Irie Fm news that the impact was minimal, as other platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom were used for classes.

He said if the outage continues into tomorrow (October 5), that could be a greater issue.
