Jamaica’s Covid-19 death toll inches closer to 2,000 mark; 225 new cases recorded

Jamaica’s Covid-19 death tally is inching closer to the 2,000 mark.

This as 15 additional deaths have pushed the tally to 1,995.

The deaths occurred between October 4 and 7.

The deceased are 9 males and 6 females.

They range in age from 41 to 88 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded 5 deaths, St. Elizabeth recorded 4 deaths, St. Catherine recorded 3 deaths and Portland, St. Thomas and St. Ann recorded 1 death each.

Meantime, 225 new cases have pushed the tally to 85,905.

Of the new cases, 143 are females and 82 are males.

They range in age 37 days to 93 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 58. Followed by St. Catherine with 53.

The positivity rate is 18.9 per cent.

415 persons are in hospital, among them, 55 who are severely ill, 34 who are critically ill, and 109 who are moderately ill.
