JCF reports 10.4 per cent increase in murders compared to last year

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is reporting a 10.4 per cent increase in murders, compared to last year.

As at Saturday, October 9 there were 1,111 murders, 105 more, than the 1,006 recorded, in the corresponding period last year.

St. Andrew South recorded the highest number of murders with 132, followed by St. James with 122.

Trelawny recorded the least number of murders with 12, followed by Portland with 13.

Meantime, there were declines in cases of rape, robbery and break-ins.

Rapes declined by 132, down to 311 from 443.

Robberies declined by 231, down to 584 from 815.

While break-ins dropped by 115, from 817 to 702.
