JHTA calls on gov’t to overhaul or scrap JamCOVID application site

by October 17th, 2021

The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, JHTA is calling on the government to either overhaul or scrap its JamCOVID application site.

JHTA President Clifton Reader said the application has outlived its usefulness.

He pointed out that with borders opening up globally many countries, particularly tourism destinations are moving to simplify their entry procedures.

He said Jamaica needs to follow suit.

Mr. Reader added that the JamCOVID app, in its present format, is putting unnecessary frustration on people as they wait impatiently for authorization to travel to Jamaica.

He expressed concern that the hindrances posed by the application could adversely impact visitor numbers, for the upcoming Winter Tourist Season.
