Jamaica records 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 197 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 7 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between September 2 and October 15.

Two of the deaths were previously under investigation.

The deceased are 5 females and 2 males.

They range in age from 51 to 90 years.

The country’s Covid-19 death tally is now 2,117.

The Health Ministry says there was one coincidental death.

Two additional deaths are under investigation.

Meantime, 197 new cases were recorded, pushing the country’s case count to 87,586.

All parishes recorded new cases.

The positivity rate is 21.1 per cent.

347 persons are in hospital, among them 43 who are severely ill, 27 who are critically ill and 62 who are moderately ill.

175 more persons have recovered.

There are 29,234 active cases.
