Police rescue 14 children from religious establishment in Albion St. James, following deadly cult-like ritual

The police say some fourteen children have been rescued from a religious establishment in Albion St. James, which was the scene of a cult-like ritual, which left three persons dead, last evening (October 17).

Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson who visited the establishment today (October 18), said the 14 children were among 144 congregants who were instructed by their leader, to visit the establishment, last evening.

He said the police were summoned to the establishment by a concerned congregant.

Upon the arrival of the police, a shoot out ensued which resulted in the killing of one member of the establishment.

When the shooting subsided, a male and female were found on the compound with stab and gunshot wounds.

One of the victims throat was slashed.

Major General Anderson said the children were rescued and other stakeholders have intervened to ensure their safety.

Commissioner Anderson also confirmed that a police woman was reportedly among the congregants.

A number of persons have been arrested in relation to the incident.

Noting that there are indications that other persons are apart of the congregation, Major General Anderson said the police are following leads.

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner says the cult-like gathering is a cause for concern.
