by November 1st, 2021

A few entertainers who have gotten themselves in hot water with the law will be hauled before the court this month for charges ranging from immigration violation to causing death by dangerous driving.

On November 17, Dancehall deejay Elephant Man will return to court to learn his fate after violating the Immigration Act.

In March, after he returned from a trip to Germany, Ele was charged with violating the Immigration Act after he failed to truthfully declare his travel history to an immigration officer. At the time, Germany was one of the countries that Jamaica had placed a travel restriction on due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

If found guilty, Elephant Man could be fined $100.

Meanwhile, Reggae singer Sevana is to reappear in court on November 23 to answer to charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

Sevana, who appeared in the Westmorland Parish Court last month for a preliminary hearing relating to the charge, is under no restrictions and is still free to perform at concerts locally and internationally.

Sevana’s court case arises from an incident along the Scott Cove main road in Whitehouse in the parish on May 25. Police reports are that Sevana was driving a Honda City motor car towards Kingston when it collided with a Honda Fit going in the opposite direction.

According to the police, the passenger in the Honda Fit, Ordia Cordiel, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Black River Hospital. Cordiel died on May 30.

Vybz Kartel, Tommy Lee Sparta, Sean Storm, Ninja Man, Zebra, Flippa Moggela, and Laden are some entertainers currently serving time behind bars.

Meanwhile, Reggae singer Jah Cure who has been in custody since early October will remain in a Dutch detention center until his trial commences in January 2022. Jah Cure was arrested after allegedly stabbing concert promoter Nicardo Papa Blake on October 1.
