Police report 10.4 per cent increase in murders, compared to last year

The Jamaica Constabulary Force, J-C-F, is reporting a 10.4 per cent increase in murders compared to last year.

As at Saturday, November 6, there were 1,215 murders, 114 more than the 1,101 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

St. Andrew South recorded the highest number of murders with 144, followed by St. James with 133.

Portland recorded the least number of murders with 14, followed by Trelawny with 15.

Meantime, there were declines in cases of rape, robbery and break-ins.

Rapes declined by 127, down to 340 from 467.

Robberies declined by 243, down to 633 from 876.

While break-ins dropped by 134, from 896, to 762.
