Opposition Spokesperson on Education Dr. Angela Brown Burke is calling on Education Minister Fayval Williams to retire Jamaica College Principal, Ruel Reid.

Mr. Reid, who is before the courts in relation to controversial issues between the Ministry and the Caribbean Maritime University, continues to be paid as Principal of JC, because he remains on special leave.

Last week, Education Minister Fayval Williams said no decision had been taken regarding recommendations made by the Jamaica College Board relating to the employment status of Mr. Reid.

This as Mr. Reid has requested an extension of his leave.

Dr. Brown Burke said it is time for the education ministry to cut ties with Mr. Reid.

She said if the ministry is afraid to take the necessary action the Jamaica College Board should make the decision.
