JCF reports 11 per cent increase in murders compared to last year

The Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF, is reporting an 11 per cent increase in murders compared to last year.

As at Saturday, November 20, there were 1, 288 murders, 128 more than the 1,160 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

St. Andrew South recorded the highest number of murders with 151, followed by St. James with 139.

Portland recorded the least number of murders with 14, followed by Trelawny with 15.

Meantime, there were declines in cases of rape, robbery and break-ins.

Rapes declined by 121, down to 360 from 481.

Robberies declined by 247, down to 672 from 919.

While break-ins dropped by 140, from 933, to 793.
