Prime Minister describes comments made by opposition MP in Parliament about Police Commissioner as “dangerous”

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has described as dangerous, comments made yesterday (November 23) in Parliament, by an opposition member about the Commissioner of Police.

Member of Parliament for South West Clarendon Lothan Cousins, was making his contribution to the debate on the States of Public Emergency, when he took issue with the fact that often times, the person chosen to lead the police force has a military background.

The House Speaker asked cousins to withdraw the comment, but he refused.

In response, Mr. Holness chastised Cousins, pointing out that the comment is not supported by facts.

He highlighted the danger posed by the comment in the public’s mind.
