by November 28th, 2021

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says now is not the time to call local government elections.  Noting the emergence of a new COVID 19 variant, he says it’s a miserable time.

The local elections are due by next February.

Speaking at the Jamaica Labour Party’s 78th anniversary conference Sunday, Mr Holness indicated to supporters that an election would not be called at this time.

He rubbished reports that he was campaigning, while on his recent vaccination tours.

Meantime, JLP Chairman Robert Montague who spoke before the party leader, said the JLP is ready for the local government election.

He also urged those elected not to be arrogant.
