Nurses meet to discuss salary increase tomorrow

by December 15th, 2021

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) is to host an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss the response from the government regarding a salary increase for the island’s nurses.

The finance ministry has proposed a 4% wage increase, for public sector workers, but the NAJ, along with other groups, such as the Police Federation and the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, have rejected the offer.

Approximately 25 public sector bargaining units have already agreed to the finance ministry’s offer.

NAJ President Patsy Edwards-Henry says the meeting tomorrow is to discuss the response from the ministry of finance and the public service regarding the proposed salary offer.
