Jamaica records 8 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 45 new cases

An additional eight Covid-19 related deaths were confirmed by the Health Ministry yesterday (December 16).

The deceased are seniors aged 67 to 95 years old.

The four men and four women lived in Manchester, Hanover, St. Elizabeth, St. James, Portland and St. Mary.

Their deaths occurred between August 24 and December 14, 2021.

Meantime, forty-five new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, bringing the nation’s total to 91,972.

Of the new cases 24 are females and 21 are males. They range in age from 1 to 88 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew and St. James recorded the highest number of cases with 9 each, followed by Manchester, St. Ann and St. Catherine with 7 cases each.

The positivity rate increased to 4.3 per cent.

And 104 persons are hospitalized, among them, 14 are severely ill, 19 moderately ill and 2 critically ill.
