Jamaica records 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 53 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 11 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between August 30 and December 20.

The deceased are 6 males and 5 females ranging in age from 51 to 103 years.

10 of the deceased lived in Trelawny, while the other lived in Kingston and St. Andrew.

The Covid-19 death toll is now 2,461.

Meantime, the positivity rate has increased to 7 per cent.

This after 53 new cases were recorded yesterday (December 22).

Of the new cases 31 are females and 22 are males.

They range in age from 2 to 83 years.

St. James recorded the highest number of cases with 23, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 19.

The country’s case count is now 92, 279.

Meantime, 148 more persons have recovered pushing the tally to 64, 582.

93 persons are in hospital, among them 13 are severely ill and 24 are moderately ill.
