Members of the academic staff at the University of the West Indies Mona campus took industrial action today in expression of their frustration with the stalling of negotiations over their salaries, and other issues.
The staff members are represented by the West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT).
President of WIGUT, Professor Paul Brown, said the staff members are frustrated with the lack of advancement with the salary negotiation process.
He noted that the membership voted to take action at an emergency meeting.
Professor Brown added that the pace of negotiations has been too slow while demanding action from the university.
He is hopeful that an amicable solution can be reached at a meeting scheduled for next Monday.
