Jamaica’s COVID-19 positivity rate increases to 52.1% as 953 new cases are confirmed

Jamaica’s COVID-19 positivity rate has increased to 52.1%. Some 953 people tested positive for COVID -19, yesterday.

 

The country’s case count now stands at 103, 458.

 

The Ministry of Health notes that 556 of those who tested positive were females, while 397 were males, ranging in age from 7 days to 97 years.

 

Kingston and St. Andrew led the case count with 275 cases, followed by St. Catherine with 133 and St. James with 104. All parishes recorded cases.

 

Meantime, two more deaths were confirmed, bringing the death toll to 2, 501. The deceased are a 56-year-old female from St. Catherine and a 69-year-old female from Kingston and St. Andrew.

 

Covid hospitalizations have decreased by 16 to 294. The Ministry says 77 patients are moderately ill, 36 are severely ill and 8 are critically ill.
