40% of public school students missed out on first week of classes

by January 12th, 2022

Approximately 40-percent of public school students did not access classes in the first week of the new school term.

Education Minister Fayval Williams expects the number to decline in coming weeks, as more of students return to the face-to-face classes.

She says ‘Yard to Yard Find the Child’ initiative will seek to reduce the number of students not accessing classes.

In addition, she says a family connect app is also being developed as a tool to support the data collection and reporting processes to inform evidence-based interventions.

954 of the 983 primary and high schools have been approved as Covid-19 compliant by the Health Ministry.
