Over 50 murders recorded in just 13 days

Just 13 days into the new year, Jamaica has recorded over 50 murders.

As at last Saturday January 8, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF said there were 37 murders.

By Tuesday, there were at least 4 other murders, including a triple murder on Adelphi Drive, Providence Heights in St. James.

And within the last 24 hours there have been at least 12 murders, pushing the tally pass 50.

The latest deaths occurred in Westmoreland, Kingston and St. Andrew and St. James.

Dead are a 9 year old St. James child, 48-year-old Wayne Smith and 44-year-old Marlon Madourie, both of Bell Rock, Kingston 11, 23 year old Garon Dyer, of Albert Street, Kingston 14, forty-year-old Marlon Spencer of August Town, St. Andrew, Dejon Campbell and Kamal Forbes of Nine Miles, Bull Bay, Kingston, sixty-three-year-old Carlton Knight, of Longsville Park, Clarendon, 45-year-old Sophia Brown and 63-year-old Bernie Lewis of White House in Westmoreland and Twenty-nine-year-old Shane Spencer, and sixteen-year-old Toni-Ann Reid, both of Roehampton in St. James.

In the latest incident this morning, the body of a 9 year old child was found in a vehicle. His throat was slashed.

Hours earlier, at about 9:30am, Smith and Madourie, were shot and killed by gunmen on olympic way in St. Andrew.

Gunmen reportedly pounced upon Smith and opened gunfire hitting him, Madourie who was a passer-by was also shot.

Four hours earlier, Dyer was shot and killed in the Oxford Mall Market in Down Town, Kingston.

Meantime, at about 9:13 last night, knight who is a retired fire fighter was shot and killed on Washington Boulevard.

Two other persons were shot and wounded.

Hours earlier at about 5:45pm, Marlon Spencer was shot killed at his home in St. Andrew.

Over in Westmoreland, Brown and Lewis were at a business place at about 2:10pm when two men entered posing as customers.

Both women were shot dead.

And at around 6:40 am, the bodies of Campbell and Forbes were found at a River Side, in Bull Bay St. Andrew.

While, Shane Spencer and Reid were shot dead at their home at about 2:00a.m., in St James.

The police are investigating the incidents.
