Residents of Hague in Falmouth, Trelawny, are clearing away mud and debris this morning, following last night’s heavy rainfall.

Northern sections of the island were scoured by heavy rains, resulting in flooding in some areas.

Trelawny and St. Ann experienced heavy rainfall.

The heavy rains were a result of a trough moving across Jamaica.

Speaking with Irie FM News, Mayor of Falmouth, Colin Gager explains, that the floodwaters have impacted several homes and businesses.

Mayor Gager says he is grateful that the parish had been maintaining its drains, which prevented significant flooding.

Meanwhile, Mayor of St. Ann’s Bay, Sydney Stewart, says the parish has not experienced any major damage, following last night’s heavy rainfall.

Noting that he has requested preliminary reports from councilors, Mayor Stewart says, floodwaters are not severe, but it is expected, that remedial patching work will have to be conducted after the waters recede.

He maintains, however, that the damage is manageable.

He says assessments are being done to determine the cost for repair works.
