by January 20th, 2022

A recent survey has revealed that the total number of receivers of remittances fell last year when compared to 2020.

Chairman of Market Research Limited, Don Anderson says this is the lowest remittance has been since his organization started logging the data in 2010.

Mr. Anderson cites data from the Bank of Jamaica, which show that remittances played a significant role, in influencing certain trends in consumer behaviour recently.

He points out that, despite the decrease in the number of persons getting remittances, the amount of actual funds received, is larger.

He stresses the importance of remittances, in ensuring Jamaicans are more resilient against economic impacts, by better management of their expenses.

Mr. Anderson however highlights that the expenses, usually result in persons being unable to save.
