Prime Minister Andrew Holness is assuring that the construction of the new parliament building will get underway this year when Jamaica observes its 60th year of independence.

Mr. Holness says it is the government’s stated policy to create purpose-built facilities to permanently house the ministries of government.

He says after more than half a century of independence, the government is still not properly established, and this is a priority for his administration.

Mr. Holness adds that the build-out and establishment of parliament, and the ministry facilities, should begin, in a few months.
