by January 21st, 2022

Fourteen (14) of the country’s hospitals are in the red alert zone of their Covid-19 isolation capacity.

This as Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise.

According to the Health Ministry, 828 suspected or confirmed Covid-19 patients are in hospital.

Speaking during a Covid Conversations press briefing last evening (January 20), Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said this is cause for concern.

He said 9 hospitals have surpassed their 100 per cent Covid-19 capacity, while the remainder are over 85 per cent.

Five hospitals have exceeded 85 per cent of their general capacity.

Meantime, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisassor Mckenzie said the number of persons seriously ill as a result of Covid-19 is increasing.

She said if this continues there will be an issue with oxygen.
