Jamaica records 10 more Covid-19 related deaths and 754 new cases

Jamaica has recorded 10 more Covid-19 related deaths pushing the toll to 2,609.

The deceased are 6 females and 4 males, they range in age from 57 to 96 years.

Four of the deaths were previously under investigation.

The deaths occurred between March last year and January this year.

Six of the deceased lived in St. Catherine and 4 lived in Kingston and St. Andrew.

Meantime, 559 persons are in hospital, among them, 60 are severely ill, 24 are critically and 117 are moderately ill.

88 more persons have recovered pushing the tally to 68,551.

The Health Ministry says 754 persons tested positive for the virus, yesterday (January 24).

The country’s case count is now 121,436.

Of the new cases 461 are females and 293 are males.

They range in age from 42 days to 99 years.

All parishes recorded new cases.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number with 187, followed by St. Catherine with 136.

The positivity rate is 46 per cent.
