Scores of commuters were left stranded this morning, as some taxi operators in east Portland, withdrew their service.

The taxi operators are protesting the deplorable condition of the main road between Port Antonio and Hectors River, which is under construction as part of the south coast highway improvement project.

One taxi operator, who identified himself as ‘Tyler’ told Irie Fm news, that motorists are affected by the road condition, with high costs to repair their vehicles.

Commuters travelling from Port Antonio to points east, including Boston, Long Road and Hectors River are among those who were affected by the withdrawal of service.
