The East Kingston police seized two high-powered firearms and several rounds of ammunition following a shootout with gunmen last evening (January 31, 2022).

The lawmen say they recovered an AK47 rifle with 29 rounds and a Glock pistol with an extended magazine containing 12 rounds.

Reports are that the weapons were seized following a confrontation with armed criminals in Bull Bay, St. Andrew about 11:15 PM.

The men reportedly fired on a team of officers, who returned fire. The criminals fled leaving the weapons behind.

Some 13 illegal firearms have been seized in eastern Kingston since the start of the year.

The police say surge operations continue in the division.
