by February 1st, 2022

The MET service has issued a flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Ann.

Meanwhile, a flash flood watch has been issued for St. Mary, Portland and sections of St. Catherine.

They remain in effect until 5 am Wednesday morning.

The flash flood warning and watch come, as a remnant trough from a dissipated frontal system continues to produce inclement weather conditions.

The MET office says the forecast is for periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, to affect mainly north-central and eastern parishes Tuesday night through to Wednesday afternoon.

A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the meteorological service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

While a flash flood warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.
