Health Ministry reports 12 additional Covid-19 related deaths and 161 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 12 additional Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the toll to 2,675.

One of the deaths occurred in September last year, while the others occurred between January 9 and 31 this year.

The deceased are 8 females and 4 males.

They range in age from 53 to 94 years.

Seven lived in St. Elizabeth, three lived in Kingston and St. Andrew, and 1 lived in Clarendon and Westmoreland each.

Meantime, 478 persons are hospitalised with the virus.

Among them, 55 are severely ill, 20 are critically ill and 95 are moderately ill.

137 more persons have recovered, pushing the tally to 70,340.

Meantime, new cases have fallen to 161. The case count is now 124, 967.

Of the new cases, 91 are females and 70 are males.

They range in age from 4 months to 95 years.

All parishes recorded new cases.

St. Catherine recorded the highest number of cases with 45, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 31.

The positivity rate is 21.6 per cent.
