Persons who turn in illegal guns to the authorities could soon be rewarded with up to half a million dollars.

That’s according to Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who says government has already launched the ‘Get Every Illegal Gun’ campaign which will involve strategic and targeted security operations and a reward system.

The Prime Minister says the country has already started seeing the benefits of the campaign.

He notes that the strategy is a three pronged one which includes the increasing of penalties for illegal weapons.

The second part of the strategy focuses on the offering of rewards ranging from $250,000 to $500,000.
