by February 9th, 2022

The Guild of Students at the Mico University College in Kingston is calling for increased police presence around the institution, to provide more security for students.

This, after an executive member of the Guild of Students was reportedly abducted and robbed last night (February 8).

Speaking with Irie Fm News, President of the Guild Shavoy Lyons said the member, whose name is being withheld was forced into a car along Marescaux road, shortly after he left the university’s compound to get food.

Mr. Lyons lamented that these incidents are happening too frequently.

He stressed the importance of increased police personnel around the university’s vicinity, to dissuade criminals from carrying out their activities.

Meantime, he is urging students to exercise caution when travelling in and around the institution.
