Kingston Central Police Division Head discourages men from thinking of women as their personal property

by February 15th, 2022

Head of the Kingston Central Police Division, Superintendent Beresford Williams is encouraging men to desist from thinking of women as their personal property.

Superintendent Williams gave the encouragement, as members of the Constabulary raised awareness on domestic violence issues in Parade Gardens in Kingston.

He noted that this type of thinking contributes to domestic violence-related issues.

The Superintendent also urged women to empower themselves and not to accept sub-standard treatment from men.

Noting that several incidents of domestic and other types of violence were recorded in the division last year, Superintendent Williams urged the residents to find more amicable means of addressing their problems.

Superintendent Williams said while the four domestic issues, which accounted for 5 per cent of murders in the division last year, were not a lot, any killing that can be prevented is a step in the right direction.
