CAPRI lauds government for handling of Covid-19 response funds

The Jamaican government, especially the finance ministry, is being lauded for how it handled funds, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its reported that about 120 countries were monitored on how they allocated and used funds.

Jamaica scored among the top countries, in terms of accountability.

The Caribbean Policy Research Institute, (Capri) highlighted the matter during a forum on Tuesday, under the theme, “Follow the Money”.

Capri researcher Shana-kay Chisholm, noted that the government was transparent in processes, with revised budgets, that included the Covid response, being tabled in parliament in good time.

Ms Chisholm said Jamaica excelled in, the area of oversight, with real time monitoring by the auditor general.

Capri has recommended that the government includes real time auditing, as part of the regular budgetary process.
